1994: Zeppelin and Caterpillar celebrate 40 years of successful partnership: a movie

In 1925, Benjamin Holt and Daniel Best founded the Caterpillar Tractor Company in Illinois/ USA. The company today is known as Caterpillar Inc. and is the world’s largest manufacturer of construction machinery and equipment. Also Zeppelin can look back on a long tradition when it comes to metalwork and technical expertise. So both parties were the perfect fit when they decided to start their partnership and cooperation back in 1954. What started out with the distribution and service of Caterpillar products in former Western Germany, evolved into a successful international partnership in many European and Eurasian countries.

On occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Zeppelin-Caterpillar partnership in 1994, Zeppelin produced a small film which summarizes the most essential milestones in their cooperation with Caterpillar up to that point.

We invite you on a short trip into our archives by watching the clip – not only do you get an overview on the many purposes Caterpillar construction equipment and machinery can be used for, but also catch a glimpse on how Zeppelin’s Corporate Design and vehicles looked like at that time.
