Willkommen – velkommen – välkommen – teretulnud. Those were the words with which the Zeppelin Group welcomed their new employees in Sweden, Denmark, Greenland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands at the beginning of 2020.
In its long history, Zeppelin has steadily enlarged its geographic footprint and seized opportunities to grow wherever they opened up and were compliant with the Group’s growth strategy. With each acquisition and integration experience and expertise in the organization grew.
The takeover of responsibility for the distribution and service of Caterpillar and MaK products in Denmark, Greenland, and Sweden as well as for MaK-branded products in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands represents the largest acquisition and associated expansion of Zeppelin’s business activities in the history of the Group. It is another milestone in Zeppelin’s successful partnership with Caterpillar Inc. which was established back in 1954.

In Sweden, Denmark, and Greenland, the portfolio consists of Caterpillar construction and mining equipment, Rental, and Power Systems incorporating the MaK product range. Zeppelin has set itself the goal of expanding the machine population in the new territory and applying excellent service concepts to create enhanced customer benefits, and in this way the company intends to strengthen the spare parts and service business. Zeppelin’s customers will also benefit from the planned expansion of services relating to the rental of construction equipment, machinery and temporary solutions for construction sites, and comprehensive concepts associated with used construction equipment.
The strategic business units were also reconfigured in the process of this Zeppelin Group expansion. For the new distribution and service territories, construction and mining equipment business have been combined in a separate strategic business unit (SBU) called Construction Equipment Nordics. Thus, today collaboration within the Group revolves around a management holding company, six strategic business units and a strategic management center (= Zeppelin Digit).
